AB Law has added Shaniqua Singleton as a partner, expanding the Atlanta firm’s business litigation practice. Shaniqua most recently served as Corporate Counsel, Litigation at Mercedes-Benz USA. Before moving in-house, she was a partner at Nelson Mullins, where she represented companies in employment, commercial and business litigation matters.
Shaniqua’s arrival marks a significant step for AB Law, which founder Alex Bartko established after working both as a litigation partner at an Am Law 100 firm and as lead litigation counsel for a major corporation. The firm represents businesses in contract disputes, shareholder and partnership conflicts, fiduciary duty claims, trade secret and restrictive covenant matters, business torts and other complex commercial litigation.
“Shaniqua is exactly the kind of lawyer we want as we grow AB Law,” Alex said. “She’s an experienced litigator who has also worked inside a major company, so she understands the legal issues as well as the business considerations behind them. She’ll make us a stronger firm and allow us to help more companies with complex disputes.”
Shaniqua has handled matters from pre-litigation disputes through mediation and trial. At Mercedes-Benz USA, she gained firsthand experience with how a corporate legal department evaluates litigation risk, works with outside counsel and makes decisions that affect the business. At AB Law, she will represent companies in employment, commercial and business disputes while helping to develop the firm’s client relationships and litigation practice.
“Alex has created a firm with an experienced team, a strong client focus and an exciting vision for growth,” notes Shaniqua. “The opportunity to return to private practice as a partner and help shape the firm’s future was very appealing to me. I’m excited to work with Alex and the AB Law team and to help our clients navigate challenging business disputes.”
Shaniqua earned her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. She was selected for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s Pathfinder Program and has been active in professional and community organizations, including the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, the Atlanta Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia.
